![]() One day last spring I was sitting in a beautiful field of flowers, daydreaming about all my dearest friends and the time we'd spent together. We used to write songs all day and then have dangerous adventures in the middle of the night. We all still kept in touch, but we wanted more, we wanted things to be like they were when we were all together, before we all grew up and moved away. But how? Holiday Records was the solution! We would record songs for each other and then take turns every week presenting them. We liked the idea so much (and quickly ran out of our own songs) that we went looking for other people who wrote songs that sounded like our friendship songs and asked them to join our gang. Then we promised the world new, free, pop songs every friday. Well, it's been just a little over a year since we started and we're still making good on that promise... for the most part (every friday has become most fridays). But every band we release has something very special and wonderful to discover about them and we believe in them whole heartedly. So Holiday Records is our gift to you, a little relief in a world of torture. |
We have big dreams for the future! Don't know what they are quite yet. But we do plan on making some lovely vinyl records and stuff like that. We just need a little more time to think about things. In the mean time, if you'd like to know more about us, we recently did our first interview for the Chaotisch Und Charmant blog. here:http://chaotischundcharmant.blogspot.com/2010/04/holiday-records.html And we had a radar peace in the March issue of NME which you can read by clicking the thumbnail on the right. And then there's one more thing; The Independent wrote an article called "So who runs the record labels now?" which included a little bit about us: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/so-who-runs-the-record-labels-now-1946160.html |

We do gratefully accept demo submissions. Please send MP3s to holidayrec@gmail.com we get quite a bit of them these days (thank goodness!) so we aren't able to respond to each one individually but if you don't hear back from us it doesn't mean we don't like your music, it just means we don't like it enough and it's probably still very good in it's own way. These are all of the bands we have released so far: The Hairs, The Young Friends, The Drums, Golden Glow, Young Michelin, Two Wounded Birds, The Notes, The Motifs, Surfer Blood, Acorn Boys, Bonfire Kids, Church Library, Palms on Fire, Victory VIII, Jes Maybe, The Arctic Flow, Paisley & Charlie, Nun Party, Uranium Lake, Girl Alliance, Night Hawke, Metric Mile, House of Wires, Nun Party, In The Low Life, Canoe, Sunshower Orphans, Da Brasilians, A Classic Education, A Bird, The Se–ors of Marseille, Winterlish, The 13 Folds |
